Exco member denies having N. Zealand PR

GEORGE TOWN: Penang exco member Phee Boon Poh has denied having a New Zealand permanent residence.

The state Health, Welfare, Environment and Caring Society committee chairman said this following a posting on news portal Stop The Lies which published a post titled “Hurry Hurry Home to Rotorua! Phee Boon Poh is NZ PR?”.

“Even his wife is a NZ permanent resident, that is what the Chinese businessmen in Penang are saying,” it reported.

Phee said the portal should offer a clarification on the posting.

“If they do not clarify within a week, I will consider taking the necessary action. They have to prove it. They are either liars or too lazy to check their facts,” he said.

It was reported in January after Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and exco members made a public declaration of their assets that Phee had eight properties, including jointly-owned land and houses as well as shares in 23 companies in New Zealand.

Six of the properties and the shares were obtained before he was appointed an exco member.

During the state assembly in May last year, Phee had demanded that Datuk Jasmin Mohamed (BN-Sungai Dua) retract a statement that he had permanent resident status.
