Indonesian maid, husband arrested in baby abduction case

BANTING: Police have arrested an Indonesian housemaid and her husband and rescued an eight-month-old baby girl believed to have been abducted by the couple from her foster parents' home in Skudai, Johor last Sunday.

Kuala Langat deputy police chief, DSP Rizani Che Ismail said the foster mother of the victim was alerted by her nine-year-old son who saw the 24-year-old housemaid bringing the infant out of the house in Taman Impian Emas, Skudai and into a taxi around 6am.

"Police, acting on a report lodged by the victim's foster mother at the Johor Baru North police headquarters the same day around 10.50am, arrested the housemaid and her 47-year-old husband, a construction labourer at a rented house in Taman Seri Jenjarum, near here," he told reporters at the Kuala Langat police headquarters here on Tuesday.

Investigations revealed that the housemaid had been staying in the country for one year and had been working for the victim's family for four months. - Bernama
