Football fans treated to host of activities before Spain v Italy


KUALA LUMPUR: It was a thrilling time for football fans who gathered at The Star-Pavilion Football Every Day Final Bash 2012 viewing party.

The fans, who were there to catch the Euro 2012 final between Spain and Italy, had a host of fun and games lined up for them while they waited for the match to begin.

Some of the activities included football-related games, a face-painting booth and drum performances organised by Pavilion KL shopping mall.

Readers of The Star were also able to sign up for the e-Paper at the event.

Those who signed up received passes to watch Manchester City and Arsenal train when they come to Malaysia for their pre-season tours.

There was also a half-time special draw giving away exclusive prizes sponsored by senQ, Carlsberg, Four Four Two Magazine and Adidas.

Chan Heng Lee, 51, who signed up for the e-Paper said that receiving the training pass was a bonus as he is a Man City fan.

The regular reader of The Star said that he became a fan of the English club after Italian striker Mario Balotelli joined it.

“However, I'm rooting for Spain now because I feel they played so well throughout Euro 2012,” he said when met at The Star booth at the event.

Javiolon Feyziyer, 23, and Javid Baphizor, 24, are two friends from Azerbaijan who are holidaying in Malaysia,

Despite their “rivalry” one is a Spain supporter while the other an Italy fan they decided to watch the match together.

“I support Italy because of Antonio Casano, who is a genius when it comes to passes,” said Baphizor, an engineer.

Feyziyer, also an engineer, said jokingly that he supported Spain because he thinks Spanish women are beautiful.
