Copter crash victims' fate unknown


KUCHING: The fate of three victims of the helicopter crash in the estuary of Sungai Lingga Friday morning could not be confirmed as of 11pm Friday night.

Sarawak Police commissioner Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani who informed Bernama on the latest development of the search and rescue operation, said there were no fresh development at the scene.

"No fresh development...tomorrow we will continue the search and rescue effort," he said.

The missing persons are Peter Ato Mayam, Siti Khuzaimah Annuar and Hanry Low while helicopter pilot German national Rico Stegar survived.

In the incident this morning, a Eurocopter EC 120 believed to be owned by a local corporate figure was reported to have crashed near Sungai Lingga estuary, Sri Aman.

According to a report from the Department of Civil Aviation, the aircraft left the Kuching International Airport at 8.57am for Nanga Merit, Kapit. - Bernama
