FT public zakat counters open at nine locations


KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Territories Islamic Affairs Council has opened nine public counters to collect zakat (tithes) from Muslims during Ramadan.

The counters will open from 8.15am to 4.30pm daily until the last day of the fasting month, including on public holidays.

Council chief executive officer Muhammad Yamin Ismail advised Muslims to pay their zakat to the appointed amil (collectors) and ensure they received receipts.

Zakat collection counters will be set up at various places, including the National Mosque here as well as the At-Taqwa Mosque in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, the Abdul Rahman Auf Mosque in Puchong and the Imam Al-Ghazali Mosque in Kepong and Labuan.

The other locations are Shamelin, Wangsa Maju, Precinct 9 Putrajaya and the Daruzzakah building, off Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
