Selangor govt rapped for not revealing plan to solve water crisis
SHAH ALAM: Selangor Barisan Nasional has taken the Selangor state government to task for not divulging its action plan to solve the water crisis in the state.
Selangor Barisan coordinator Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed said the Selangor government was still flip-flopping and deliberately prolonging the issue by using Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) as a target to confuse the people on the water issue.
“We are still waiting for the state government's plan to tackle the water crisis in Selangor. In fact, Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had openly admitted there was no specific plan to solve the issue,” he said yesterday after handing over food for breaking fast to the public at the Shah Alam Commuter Station in Section 19 here.
He also questioned why the Selangor government only attacked Syabas on the water issue when there were other companies also responsible for treating water such as Syarikat Pengeluaran Air Sungai Selangor Sdn Bhd (Splash) and Konsortium Abbas Sdn Bhd (Abbas).
Mohd Zin also questioned whether the Selangor government's intention of taking over Syabas would solve the water crisis.
On Monday, the special Cabinet committee on the Selangor Water Issue rejected the plan by the Selangor government to take over the management of Syabas because it did not abide by several terms in the agreement.
The committee decided that the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant would be continued and tenders would be opened in a month. - Bernama
