Man attacks photographers outside court


BUKIT MERTAJAM: Two photographers from Guan Ming Daily and The New Straits Times (NSTP) were attacked by an unknown man while on asssigment at the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate's Court here Wednesday.

In the 9.15am incident, the man, clad in jeans and T-shirt, confronted Guan Ming's Lim Lean Hin and tried to seize NSTP's Mohamad Danial Saad's camera.

Lim said the unidentified man, believed to be in his 40s, let both of them go after they deleted the pictures containing images of him.

"Were were taking pictures of a suspect believed to be involved in a Custom's probe on cigarette smuggling but coincidently, the man was walking together with the suspect while coming down the staircase," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after lodging a police report together with Mohamad Danial about the incident at Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) District Police here.

Both of them also expressed disappointment that security officers at the court just watched without taking any action.

SPT Police Chief ACP Azman Abd lah confirmed the case and said investigations were underway. - Bernama
