Robbers stun security guard with Taser in RM4mil heist

JOHOR BARU: Robbers stunned a security guard with a Taser gun before driving off with a security van containing about RM4mil cash outside a hypermarket here.
The incident occurred at 1pm when the van, with four guards, on a trip to replenish Automated Teller Machines at shopping malls arrived at the hypermarket in Masai.
Sources said that soon after three guards entered the hypermarket to replenish the money, several men knocked on the door to distract the driver.
However, the lone driver suspected something amiss and tried to drive off but the suspects managed to enter the van and immobilised him with the Taser.
By the time the other guards rushed out on hearing the commotion, the robbers had driven off.
Police were immediately alerted and found the van nearby.
Police have arrested 12 men, in their 20s and 40s, including the security guards involved in transporting the money.
Seri Alam OCPD Supt Ruslan Zainuddin only confirmed that they had received a report.
He declined to elaborate and appealed to those with information to contact the police hotline at 07-2212 999.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, a money-changer transporting money along Jalan Storey was attacked by a group of men and robbed of cash amounting to RM100,000 at about 3.30pm.
The victim has since been hospitalised at he Sultanah Aminah hospital for injuries.
