Dr Chua asks Guan Eng if he has courage to admit fault

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek has questioned whether Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has the courage to admit, apologise and resign from his post if the latter's alleged relationship with a female senior staff member is true.

The MCA president said he did not hide when the issue of his sex video emerged and questioned whether Lim could do the same.

“It is indeed that Lim is not like me because I have the courage and political moral to be responsible and bear the consequences.

“Will Lim Guan Eng have the courage like me to admit fault, apologise and resign from my ministerial post as well as all my positions in the party?” Dr Chua questioned.

He added that Lim should not be paranoid or agitated when the media asked for comments over the alleged relationship if he truly had nothing to hide.

“It is obvious the Chief Minister has no courage to face the issue when he refused to answer to the allegation and threatened to sue whichever media that reports about it,” Dr Chua said.

Lim's purported relationship with a former staff member of the Penang Chief Minister's office became the centre of controversy in the Malacca state assembly when Duyong assemblyman Datuk Gan Tian Loo had raised the abrupt transfer of the woman.

Gan had asked Kota Laksamana assemblyman and the Chief Minister's wife Betty Chew to “enlighten” the assembly and on Tuesday, Chew and four of her party assemblymen had staged a walkout, alleging that it was a “pre-meditated conspiracy to undermine Guang Eng's leadership”.
