Cops set up task force over leaked documents

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have set up a task force to investigate the leak of confidential documents on the Ampang Light Rail Transit (LRT) extension project.

CID Director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Zinin said a police report was lodged on the matter in Putrajaya on Tuesday.

“Initial investigations show that an online news portal revealed certain documents regarding the contract for the LRT extension project,” he told a press conference at Bukit Aman yesterday.

He said the documents were supposed to be sealed under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) 1972 and should not have been made public.

“We are investigating the case under Section 8(1)(i) of the OSA, and anyone found guilty of leaking the documents can be jailed for not less than one year and not more than seven years,” he said.
