Caught - ATM vandal
RAWANG: A suspected car thief, who is also behind a prostitution ring, has been arrested for a string of ATM vandalism cases.
Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the 33-year-old man was nabbed hours after an ATM machine in Bandar Baru Rawang was damaged.
“The bank manager was informed by her security guard that the ATM machine screen was damaged by a man using a car tyre wrench on Wednesday,” he added.
After viewing CCTV footage of the bank’s premises, a team was formed and the suspect was arrested at 9.30pm, he said.
A stolen Proton Wira used by the suspect was also seized.
ACP Abdul Rahim said the unemployed man was also wanted for soliciting money for prostitution in Cheras.
He said the man could be behind two other ATM vandalism cases in Taman Jati and Bandar Baru Rawang on Tuesday.
