Indonesian woman sentenced to three years' jail for infanticide
PETALING JAYA: A former factory worker was sentenced to three years in jail by the Sessions Court here on Friday for causing the death of her day-old baby last month.
Judge Suraiya Mustafa Kamal handed down the sentence on Nenda Nurindahsari, 21, an Indonesian national, after she pleaded guilty to the charge.
She was charged with committing the offence at the premises of the Western Digital Factory in Sungai Way, Selangor, between 4.30pm and 5.02pm last June 15.
In mitigation, Nenda Nurindahsari, who was unrepresented, said she was the sole breadwinner of her family in Indonesia.
According to the facts of the case, a CCTV footage at the factory showed a pregnant Nenda entering a toilet at the premises and then to come out later with a flat stomach.
The prosecution was represented by DPP Ching Kian Chun. - Bernama
