Two cops nabbed for drug addiction, armed robbery


KUALA TERENGGANU: Two policemen from Pahang and Selangor were detained here to facilitate investigations into drug possession, addiction and armed robbery.

The corporal and lance corporal were picked up at 2.45am from a car parked opposite an eatery in Paka, Dungun here on Sunday during a routine police patrol.

An assortment of methamphetamine and syabu were seized from the duo, aged 31 and 26.

Terengganu police deputy chief Datuk Hamzah Mohd Jamil said the 31-year-old suspect was attached to the Kuantan contingent headquarters while the other worked at the Ampang headquarters in Selangor.

He said the policeman from Pahang was under suspension, based on a red authority card found in the car.

"Upon checking the vehicle's bonnet, the police team found a small box containing what was believed to be six grammes of syabu and 27 methamphetamine pills.

"The suspects have been remanded to also facilitate investigations into two armed robberies, one of which involved a make-up artist," he told Bernama.
