Some cashiers do check signatures

I’D like to share with Ragunathan “Shopping with credit cards” (The Star, July 31) an incident when a cashier did verify my signature.

In all the years that I have had a credit card, I have never put my signature at the back of it.

On one occasion when I paid for my purchase with my credit card, the cashier did try to compare the two signatures (on my card and on the payment slip).

He noticed that the card did not have my signature. So, he gestured for me to sign on the card by handing me back the card with his pen.

I signed it and gave the items back to him. He took the card and compared the signature with the slip.
