Fire engine runs over motorcyclist

IPOH: A fire engine, en route to put out a burning pile of trash in Kampung Kuchai, knocked into a motorcycle near the Jalan Sultan Idris Shah-Jalan Raja Musa Aziz traffic junction and instantly killed the rider.

It is learnt the incident occurred at about 5.45pm yesterday after the Fire and Rescue Department received a call about a fire and rushed to the scene.

A witness, who wished to be known only as Ahmad, said vehicles along Jalan Sultan Idris Shah had tried to swerve their vehicles aside after hearing the siren of the fire engine.

“The fire engine was rushing to put out a fire as I could see black smoke rising nearby.
