JKKN launches ‘Fly Jalur Gemilang Merdeka Raya'
KUALA LUMPUR: The Information, Communications and Culture Ministry through its National Arts and Culture Department (JKKN) has launched a "Fly Jalur Gemilang Merdeka Raya" campaign to bring added cheer to the Merdeka Day and Aidilfitri celebrations.
JKKN deputy director-general Mesran Mohd Yusof said the campaign received a good response and about 1,000 flags were distributed to members of the public at the compound of Sogo shopping complex, here on Saturday.
"When we first arrived here, members of the public rushed to our secretariat to get the Jalur Gemilang (national flag) of which we distributed for free and the response was overwhelming" he told reporters here.
He said to ensure the success of the campaign, about 40 ordinary motorcycles and 20 high-powered motorcycles participated the department's “Fly the Jalur Gemilang” convoy.
Mesran said he hoped that the campaign would evoke Malaysian community spirit to display the flag on houses, premises and their vehicles. - Bernama
