Govt allocation to revive 6,000 Rukun Tetangga nationwide


KUALA LUMPUR: More than 6,000 neighbourhood watch or Rukun Tetangga nationwide will be revived through a RM50mil government allocation, said National Unity and Integration Department director-general, Datuk Azman Amin Hassan.

Speaking to reporters after the launch of a festive season crime watch campaign here on Sunday, he said the move also included 3,000 voluntary patrol schemes with more than 160,000 volunteers registered throughout the country.

He added that the Department had taken the initiative to work with the police in preventing crimes during the coming Hari Raya.

Also present at the launch were Ampang police chief ACP Amiruddin Jamaluddin, the Department's Operations deputy director-general L. Ganesan and Selangor director, Abdul Halim Omar. - Bernama
