KUCHING: Petra Jaya MP Datuk Fadillah Yusof has laughed off speculation that he would cross over to PKR before the upcoming parliamentary elections.

He said the rumours were spread by PKR in a desperate attempt to destabilise the state Barisan Nasional.

”This is just like before. Do you remember September 2008, when they were saying that Barisan MPs will jump ship?

”So this is another round. They want to destabilise Barisan so that there will be suspicions among Barisan members,” he told reporters at Kampung Patingan here yesterday.

Fadillah, who is also PBB Youth chief, stressed that he was still with the party and that the state Barisan remained united.

”Rest assured that I’m intact and Sarawak Barisan is intact. We are united and we will fight them.

”PKR is already desperate. Even when (de facto leader) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim comes to Sarawak, there is no response,” he said, adding that the people should not trust the rumours.

He was responding to a report in an online news portal specula-ting that MPs from PBB would defect to the Opposition before the polls.

The names of Fadillah and Santubong MP Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who is also Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker, were mentioned in the report.

Two Barisan MPs from Sabah, Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin and Datuk Wilfred Bumburing, had crossed over to PKR last month, which had raised speculation of similar defections here.

But Fadillah said PBB had no history of its members jumping ship.

”We stick by our integrity,” he said.
