Lajim, Bumburing to contest under PR ticket

KUCHING: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has assured that both Beaufort and Tuaran MPs will be given the nod to contest under the Pakatan Rakyat ticket.

He said Pakatan partners PKR, DAP and PAS had accepted Datuk Seri Lajim Ukim (Beaufort MP) and Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing (Tuaran MP) into the Pakatan fold.

Anwar, who is PKR advisor, said all the three partners in Pakatan had agreed that the two were free to choose which party they wanted to represent.

“They may choose to contest under PKR or DAP or PAS ticket.

“It’s up to them. After all, they are all under Pakatan,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

Lajim resigned as Umno supreme council member, Beaufort Umno chief and Beaufort Barisan Nasional chairman while Bumburing left Upko and has severed all ties with Barisan.

Bumburing is formerly Upko deputy president. Upko is a component party of Sabah Barisan.

Both men had also declared to strengthen support for Pakatan in Sabah.
