Anwar is a master promise-maker, says Ongkili
KOTA KINABALU: Kota Marudu MP Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili has termed Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as a master promise-maker.
He said the Opposition was good at making promises that it knew it did not have to keep or deliver.
“They can make grand promises (to the people) but they need not have to fulfil them,” Dr Ongkili, who is Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, said after a ceramah in Kota Marudu.
They can make grand promises (to the people) but they need not have to fulfil them. - Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili “It is plain to see that Anwar is just a master promise-maker,” he said when referring to the promises that Anwar had made at a ceramah in Kota Marudu on Sunday.
Dr Ongkili said Anwar's pledge to give RM650 to each senior citizen and RM100 to each child until they reached the age of 18 was another example of the promises that the Opposition had made because it did not have to fulfil them.
“If Pakatan Rakyat is sincere, then implement these promises now in Pakatan-controlled states,” Dr Ongkili said when launching the Gerakan Biru Kota Marudu on Sunday.
Dismissing Anwar's claims that the Kota Marudu parliamentary constituency, which includes the Tandek and Matunggong state seats, was under-developed, Dr Ongkili said the district had progressed by leaps and bounds under Barisan Nasional.
He said the development could be seen in terms of infrastructure and amenities, such as roads, water supply, housing and education.
“We admit that more needs to be done.
“Thus, it is important for the three seats in Kota Marudu to remain under Barisan in order to benefit from the transformation programmes initiated by the Prime Minister,” he added.
