Woman and daughters killed in crash
BACHOK: A woman and her two young daughters were killed, and her niece seriously injured, when the car they were travelling in collided with a van at the Jalan Kota Baru-Pasir Puteh stretch.
Maisarah Mohd Ali, 34, who was driving the car, and her daughter, Zakiah Hanim Uda, four, died on the spot in the 9am crash yesterday near Kampung Mahligai.
Rashidah, three, succumbed to injuries at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian.
Her seven-year-old niece, Aishah Shafikah Mohd Zuki, sustained head and body injuries and was warded at the hospital.
Her condition was described as stable.
The driver of the van which was transporting ice cubes, Adnan Jusoh, sustained light injuries.
Bachok police chief DSP Ab Rahim Che Ghani said Adnan, 38, had lodged a report at the police station.
He said Maisarah was returning home after sending her husband to the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Pengkalan Chepa when the crash occurred. — Bernama
