Aid from Senadin rep touches hearts of needy families

MIRI: Assistant Communications and Sports Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin has brought Hari Raya Aidilfitri cheer to several needy and less fortunate families here.

Among them was a mother of four, Norliriza Rajak, 34, who shed tears when she received a hamper and some money from Lee, who is Senadin assemblyman.

“Each year Datuk Lee never forgets to visit us. His concern brings us happiness,” she said.

According to Norliriza, her husband, a fruit vendor, only managed to bring basic food to the table.

“Even if we have extra money, we cannot afford to repair our house for Raya,” she added.

Later, Lee promised to build a culvert and replace the old wooden bridge connecting the house to the main road after the festive season.

The visit was part of Lee’s annual community outreach programme which he organises with the Welfare Department.
