Distractions can cause you to walk into trouble

PETALING JAYA: Fiddling with her phone while jogging by the road, English teacher Jeslyn Amarasekara ran straight into a lamp-post.

The 26-year-old had been using her headphones to listen to songs while jogging and was looking through the playlist for a particular song.

“I was scanning the list for a specific song. I didn't bother looking up because I knew I was the only one jogging there.

“I didn't see the lamp-post and ran straight into it,” said Jeslyn, adding that she had bumped her head and the phone fell from her hands.

To make things worse, she said, a stranger had witnessed the embarrassing incident.

The man stopped and said: “Are you okay? Next time, keep your eyes open when you walk” before bursting into laughter.

Assistant manager Vijay Kanna, 26, fell off a bus because he was busy SMS-ing.

“I was distracted by a text message while alighting a bus. I ended up missing a step and falling down on the road in front of people were waiting to board,” he said.

Facebook addict Felicia Tan, 17, once walked into a wall and hit her head.

“Since then I have learned to keep my phone away while walking in public places,” she said.
