Azizan to return to office after allergy scare

ALOR SETAR: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak who took leave after an allergic reaction to one of his medicines will return to office soon.

His press secretary Mohd Helmi Khalid said Azizan's condition had improved and he wanted to resume his duties immediately.

“So far, his programmes are according to schedule but there could be last-minute changes if he does not feel fit,” he said yesterday.

It was reported that Azizan, 70, failed to turn up at his own Hari Raya open house, which was held at the Mentri Besar's official residence in Seri Mentaloon on Aug 25.

State Housing, Industry and Investment, Public Work, Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry and Biotechnology Committee chairman Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah was quoted as saying that the state PAS commissioner suffered an allergic reaction to one of the medicines.

Meanwhile, Kedah PKR chairman Datuk Wan Salleh Wan Isa said the Mentri Besar should be allowed to rest.

Wan Salleh said he spoke with Azizan on Monday to ask about his condition following media reports about his health.

“Azizan told me that he was down with fever. I called him because I wanted to invite him to attend the state PKR Hari Raya open house next week,” he said.

Last September, Azizan was hospitalised for about two weeks.
