Thief dies after struggle with students while breaking into hostel
ALOR SETAR: A man died after a struggle with a group of male students who caught him breaking into their hostel here early Wednesday.
The 35-year-old, believed to be a drug addict, succumbed to head and body injuries about 2pm, after he was admitted at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
The students of the private religious school in Jalan Sultanah here had caught him red-handed with a stolen cell phone and bag.
Kota Setar police chief ACP Adzaman Mohd Jan said no one was detained in connection with the death of the man, who had four previous criminal cases, including theft in 2006.
He said a police report was lodged by the students in connection with the break-in and subsequent struggle with the deceased.
"We are waiting for the result of the post-mortem before taking further action," he told reporters here. - Bernama
