Indian govt offers familiarisation programme for overseas Indians


KUALA LUMPUR: The Indian government is organising a Study India Programme (KIP), a four-week familiarisation programme on the art, culture, heritage, history, social and economic development of the country for the overseas Indian Dispora aged 18 to 26.

The first programme, tentatively to be held from Sept 25 to Oct 23 this year, is open to Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) only, said a statement issued by the Indian High Commission here.

It said those selected will have to undergo a short-term course of three weeks at a selected institution in India, and undergo a week's field visit organised by the institute.

Details and application form for the programme can be downloaded from www.indianhighcommision.com.my/sip.php website, said the statement.

The completed form should be submitted by hand or by post to the High Commission of India, Education Section, Level 28, Menara 1 Mon't Kiara, No 1, Jalan Mon't Kiara, Mon't Kiara, 50480 Kuala Lumpur, latest by Aug 9. - Bernama
