Man killed, chopped up and set ablaze

NIBONG TEBAL: The highly decomposed and charred remains of a man were discovered at an oil palm estate off Jalan Sungai Kechil, near the Jawi Golf Resort, here.

An estate worker made the gruesome find at about 10am yesterday and contacted police.

The man's severed head, hands, legs and fingers were found next to the body, which was clad only in underwear.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was believed to have been murdered, dismembered and set ablaze elsewhere before the body and parts were dumped at the scene.

Penang deputy CID chief Asst Comm Nasir Salleh said based on initial investigations, there was a possibility that the victim was murdered at about 4am yesterday.

ACP Nasir said police hope to establish the identity of the victim from two fingers that were spared from the fire.

“We also found three kerosene containers at the scene,” he told reporters at the scene.

“We believe more than one person was involved in the brutal killing,” he added.

He urged those with information over the murder to contact the district police headquarters or the nearest police station.
