It is understood that there was a quarrel between the two resulting in the woman's fall at about 11am.

An Arab resident said he heard loud noises and was shocked to find the victim on the ledge outside his apartment unit on the first floor.

He and several other residents rushed over to help her.

The apartment residents then saw the suspect attempting to jump over a fence to escape.

They chased after the man and managed to nab him.

The victim had recently moved here from Kulim to find a job.

She was said to be staying temporarily with her boyfriend while she looked for a place of her own.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said the case was being investigated as attempted murder.
