Villages nationwide to get a boost in infrastructure
SEMPORNA: The Rural and Regional Development Ministry is committed to develop more infrastructure facilities in villages nationwide.
Their ultimate aim is to provide the best facilities to all residents in the villages.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (pic) said this in line with the objectives of the NKRA for Improving Rural Basic Infrastructure which involves road construction, clean water supply, 24-hour electricity, and construction of new or restored houses.
“The Government has completed construction of 2,515.61km of road compared to the initial target of 2,062.05km for year's end.
With regards to clean water supply, Mohd Shafie shared that the Ministry has succeeded in providing supply to 163,762 households.
“Seven islands in Semporna will be receiving electricity supply from the solar energy project carried out by the Ministry which is expected to be completed in full at the end of the year,” he also explained.
According to Shafie, the Ministry has a RM94mil allocation to implement the solar energy projects aimed to ensure the rural communities on the island are included in the modernisation wave experienced by the rest of the country.
