New Beetle to join motor carnival
PETALING JAYA: Fresh from its launch at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Friday, the latest version of Volkswagen's best-selling Beetle model will be showcased at The Star Motor Carnival 2012 at the Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur from Sept 14-17.
While maintaining the classic “bug” silhouette and allure of the original model which dates back to 1938, the all-new car comes with the latest engineering, safety and convenience features from the Volkswagen group.
The two-door vehicle is also bigger and wider than the previous model and has a roomier interior to seat four adults in comfort.
Priced from RM139,888, it gets a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine and seven-speed dual clutch transmission combination that promises brisk performance and fuel economy.
The car is available in Candy White, Tornado Red, Saturn Yellow, Reflex Silver, Deep Black, Platinum Grey and Graciosa Brown.
The Star Motor Carnival is jointly organised by The Star and Cityneon Malaysia, a subsidiary of Star Publications (M) Bhd.
Petronas Dagangan Sdn Bhd is the main sponsor and admission is free.
Some RM200,000 worth of lucky draw prizes and giveaways, among them Petronas petrol cards, tablet computers, GPS navigators and MotoGP tickets are up for grabs.
Red-hot wheels: The newly-launched Volkswagen Beetle will be showcased at The Star Motor Carnival. Other automotive brands such as Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Daihatsu, Ford and Chery will be displaying their latest models at the four-day event. Visitors can even test-drive some of the cars on a special circuit.
Car-related items, accessories, after-market upgrades, window and security tinting, alloy wheels, GPS gadgets and audio systems will be on sale at the carnival.
The carnival promises to be a day out for the entire family with magic performances, clowns, a beauty pageant, classic car display, modified car competition as well as drift car shows and public rides.
