Ex-S. Korean minister lauds education blueprint
PUTRAJAYA: A former South Korean Education Minister said the National Education Blueprint 2013-2025 is so detailed that he is feeling envious about what Malaysia is doing on education.
Ahn Byong-man said the blueprint was beyond anything his country had ever done.
“It is a huge (plan) and yet very detailed and we have never done this in South Korea. I am happy to be able to give my input, but I have to confess that I am envious with what your country is doing,” he said after a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin here yesterday.

He described the reform plan as comprehensive since it was done through consultations that also involved parents and students.
“I really hope this plan will achieve success,” he added.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will unveil the blueprint today.
Another panel member, director of Singapore's National Institute of Education Prof Lee Sing Kong, said it was important for the Government to ensure an effective implementation of the plan.
“Now that we have already set the goals, it is how we implement the reforms.
“It is something the Government has to discuss and put in place a coherent implementation,” he added.
Prof Lee also said the panel began its task about eight months ago and communicated with its members via video-conferencing and e-mails.
“It was done so frequently that I can't remember how many times we held the discussions. It is so easy to communicate now,” he said.
The blueprint will focus on key changes to bring about more effective teaching and learning in the classroom to match global standards.
