KPI for all vice chancellors to begin immediately

By EMBUN MAJID

SINTOK: Vice chancellors at all public universities in the country will be evaluated based on a Key Performance Index (KPI) introduced by the Higher Learning Institution, with immediate effect.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said Tuesday the KPI was based on the ability of each vice-chancellor to ensure the success of entrepreneurship education programmes for their students as part of an effort to produce better quality graduates.

“We have discussed the matter and are now going to implement it. We have agreed that the entrepreneurship programme must be implemented in all courses offered at a university and the vice-chancellor of the university must be responsible for its success,” he said.

Mohamed Khaled said this during a press conference after officiating the three new academic blocks of the School of Multimedia, Technology and Communication, School of Quantitative Science and School of Technology Management and Logistics at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) here.

Also attending the function was UUM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak.

Mohamad Khaled said the entrepreneurship programme was aimed at helping students survive after they graduated from a university, especially if they chose to start their own businesses.
