Nail hate postings culprits, says Masing

KUCHING: Land Development Minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing has asked the police to go after the people behind the anti-Sarawak postings on Facebook.

Following an outpour of anger and numerous police reports the offending Facebook page was removed.

Masing said the matter must be looked into seriously.

“Go after them. Throw the book at them because they are not only inciting hatred among Malaysians but also inciting hatred among regions — Peninsular Malaysia against Sarawak and Sabah. That is not a very good thing. There are laws to use against them, so throw the book at them,” he said after the official opening of Kolej Sunway Kuching’s new city campus here yesterday.

He was asked to comment on the anti-Sarawak postings which had surfaced on Facebook in recent days.

The postings, made on a page called “Semenanjung ANTI Sarawak”, referred to Sarawakians in derogatory terms.

Masing, who is PRS president, said it was seriously wrong to incite people along racial lines.

“This type of guys have nothing to do except to cause hatred among Malaysians. To me, they are mentally sick,” he said.

When told that some of the postings were degrading to the Dayaks, Masing, who is a Dayak himself, said: “The Dayaks are as good as anybody else. I think these guys must be living in a different planet. They must be living in the planet of the apes that’s why they don’t understand us.”
