ALOR SETAR: A special committee has been set up to investigate the drowning of a 35-year-old civil servant during a training programme for administrative and diplomatic officers near Sungai Miang in Pekan, Pahang.

Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Ali Hamsa said the committee, chaired by a high government officer, would look into all aspects of the training module and how the incident occurred.

“The outcome of investigations will decide whether changes should be made to the training programme.

“Besides the special committee, the Armed Forces and police are also conducting their own investigations,” he said.

On Sunday, Aldy Hasni Abu Hasan drowned while crossing a canal in his camouflage uniform and boots during the training at the Territorial Army's Force 136 Camp.

Ali, who was speaking to reporters after visiting the deceased's wife and family in Lorong Fajar here, said the programme was important to build discipline among the trainees and the response from them was that they still wanted the module to be included.
