Police, ROS denied entry into Suaram office

By M. KUMAR

PETALING JAYA: A group of six men, comprising the police and Registrar of Society (ROS) officials, visited the Suaram headquarters here about 11.55am Wednesday to perform a routine check.

Suaram executive director Nalini Elumalai said the men were denied entry as they did not have any document or warrant granting them access to enter.

"Once our lawyers arrived, they gave us an ROS form to fill up but we declined and merely explained in the form that Suaram is under the Registrar of Companies (ROC) and not under the jurisdiction of the ROS," she told a press conference at the premises.

The men left around 12.30pm.

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed, when contacted, said the policemen were there only to ensure that things went smoothly.

"The visit was conducted by ROS and we were there only to maintain security," he said.
