Hisham: Swift action to be taken on national flag, stepping on PM’s picture fiasco

SUNGAI PETANI: Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the Home Ministry will act firmly and expedite the legal process on the perpetrators of the provocative act of replacing the national flag, stepping on the Prime Minister's picture as well as cursing national leaders at a gathering in Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur recently.

He added the political materminds and desperados behind the actions would be brought to court as the majority of the people wanted to see them put on trial according to the law.

“The majority of the people are already fed up with the actions of these political desperados who know they will be facing defeat in the coming general election and trying to create public hatred against government leaders,” he told reporters after opening the Merbok Umno division delegates meeting at Dewan Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Merbok near here Sunday.

Hishammuddin, who is also the Umno vice-president, said police were conducting investigations and that the Attorney General's Chambers would prosecute them if there was sufficient evidence.

“We will not tolerate any negative efforts to sow hatred against government leaders who have become subjects of insult,” he said. - Bernama
