Hero cops are good role models

I AM very impressed by the cop who wrestled with the parang wielding robber, broke a tooth in the process and suffered some injuries.

Two policemen in their car chased the three suspects on two motorcycles and cornered one near Bandar Sunway.

The suspect tried to escape on foot but the policeman gave chase also on foot. (On three other occasions I witnessed policemen sprinting after criminals or suspects. It’s the lazy, sloppy and indifferent ones that give the police a bad image).

In this case near Bandar Sunway, in the heat of the moment, the policeman fired a shot but hit a passing car instead, which caused some injury to the occupants.

I am sorry for the occupants but I pity the policeman at the same time.

In the first place, I believe he only wanted to fire a warning shot. I can imagine when one is nervous and after a hot chase and sprint, the hand and fingers can be sweaty – doesn’t matter if he is trained to handle a gun.

The policeman eventually wrestled down the suspect.

I hope such bravery will be rewarded and frequently reported.

They should be recognised publicly and their faces shown, if it doesn’t jeopardise them unnecessarily. We need such models and heroes to emulate and look up too.

Such bravery and dedication will intimidate robber wannabes and motivate the public to work closer with and have faith in the police. Polis Diraja Malaysia Boleh!
