Restaurant operator, customers nab murder suspect

SEREMBAN: The restaurant operator and several customers caught a foreigner suspected to have been involved in the murder of an elderly Malaysian man early Thursday.

Seremban police chief ACP Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said two other suspects ran in different directions after their victim, aged between 55 and 60, screamed for help at about 5am in the back lane between Jalan Utam Singh and Jalan Kong Sang.

"The suspect, in his 40's, had a screw-driver on him," he told reporters at the scene.

He said the body of the victim, believed to be an employee of a coffee shop, had been sent to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital. There was a stab wound in the chest.

Cash amounting to RM36 was found in a trousers pocket of the unidentified dead man.

ACP Saiful Azly said the restaurant owner heard a scream and his son found three men hovering over a man in the back lane.

"The three suspects ran away in different directions. However, the restaurant operator, his son and several of their customers chased and caught one of them," he said. - Bernama
