KUALA TERENGGANU: The state Health department has raided the private clinic where a male patient was allegedly sexually assaulted by a male medical assistant.
Officers from the department's Private Healthcare Services Surveillance Unit raided the clinic in Dungun at about 11am Thursday.
State Health department director Dr Anwa Sulaiman said the unit seized several items from the clinic in order to facilitate investigations into whether the clinic had employed unqualified personnel and over the sexual assault.
"We are acting in accordance with Section 31 (1) of the Private Healtcare Facilities Services Act 1999.
"By right, the clinic cannot employ unqualified personnel, thus we are investigating the matter," he said when contacted.
He added if found guilty, the clinic administrators could be fined up to RM300,000.
"We also recorded statements from the clinic's personnel.
It was reported that a 24-year-old man claimed he was sexually assaulted by a male medical assistant while receiving treatment at a private clinic in Dungun.
The victim, who suffered chest pains, went to the clinic at about 4.45pm on Tuesday.
The medical assistant then examined his chest before asking him to take off his trousers.
It is learnt that a few seconds later, the assistant did the unthinkable and sucked the victim's penis.
The victim, who was shocked, slapped the medical assistant's face before putting his trousers back on.
He also shouted at the medical assistant that he would lodge a police report.
The suspect then gave the victim a Blackberry smartphone in exchange for keeping his mouth shut, before fleeing the clinic.
The victim took the phone but lodged a police report at the Dungun police station.
