Saying ‘I do’ Gangnam style

PETALING JAYA: One man proved that no act is too extravagant if it's for his sweetheart when he orchestrated an elaborate K-pop-themed flash mob wedding proposal.
Joshua Wong Yin Ai boogied with 33 of his closest friends to a medley that included songs like Lovey Dovey by T-ara, Gangnam Style by Psy, Fantastic Baby by Big Bang and 1,2,3,4 by the Plain White T's before popping the question to Nancy Lim outside Laundry Bar at the Curve on Wednesday.
Through blushes and laughter, she accepted his proposal.
Wong said he planned the romantic stunt over three weeks after his initial idea of proposing to her via a giant billboard across her office window failed due to logistics.
“I wanted to give her something grand and special; after many suggestions I decided on the flash mob proposal,” said Wong, adding that he chose the K-pop theme as they both enjoyed the genre.
The 27-year-old assistant manager said he had to videotape the choreography and upload it onto the Internet for his friends to practise on their own.

“I was so nervous as we only had two rehearsals together.”
The hard work paid off as Lim, 29, was caught totally by surprise as she was about to leave the shopping complex after work.
“There are no words to describe how I am feeling right now. There are none,” Lim gushed.
She added that she had received a torrent of gifts from Wong earlier yesterday as it was their third-year “anniversary”.
“I did suspect something was up, but could not tell what it was as our friends told me that they were too busy to hang out over the past few days,” said Lim.
“I guess they must have been practising for this,” she said.
“But I never in the least bit thought that it would be a wedding proposal.”
The flash mob performance drew many amused onlookers, who cheered when Lim said “yes” to Wong's proposal.
“I love such proposals,” said onlooker Ashir Joyous.
“They did a great job, even I wanted to join in,” said the 22-year-old who added that he had also proposed to his fianc in a similar manner.
Wong and Lim said they planned to get married next year.
