BUTTERWORTH: A 29-year-old woman, who is a slow learner, is alleged to have been pushed out of a car and left by the roadside in Mak Mandin by her mother.

The woman's friend said the mother had allegedly warned her daughter not to come back after dumping her.

She said the mother, who divorced her 62-year-old husband earlier, had tried to drop her off at the father's low-cost flat unit in Seberang Jaya.

“Her step-mother refused to take her in, and so her mother tried to send her to a relative's house in Mak Mandin.

“But after failing to locate the relative's house, her mother abandoned her by the roadside in a housing scheme,” she said when Barisan Nasional's Bagan parliamentary constituency co-ordinator David Chua visited the woman at her father's former village in Kampung Federal here yesterday.

The friend said the incident happened at 4pm on Sunday.

When asked, the woman said she still loved her mother.

North Seberang Prai welfare officer Mohd Rahim Mohd Alif said he was shocked to hear about the incident as the department had been handling the woman's case.

“We will talk to her parents and counsel them. But if they are still adamant about not wanting to take care of her, we may consider placing her in the Taman Sinar Harapan Welfare Home in Jitra, Kedah,” he said.

Chua advised parents who had difficulty caring for children with special needs to seek help from the Welfare Department.
