Najib: Eastern Dispersal Link to be toll-free
KUALA LUMPUR: The Government Monday gave the assurance that it will not impose toll on the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) in Johor Baharu after it takes over the expressway from the concessionaire, Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB).
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the proposed Government takeover of the EDL was still at the negotiation stage.
"Nevertheless, in the interests of all, the people, the loan provider, the concessionaire and the Government, will be safeguarded in finalising any proposal," he said in a written reply to a question from Loke Siew Fook (DAP-Rasah) in the Dewan Rakyat.
Loke had enquired about the cost of the Government takeover of the EDL from MRCB, and the rate of the toll to be imposed. - Bernama
