JOHOR BARU: A newly-wed couple's future was tragically ended when the groom was fatally slashed by a group of men hours after the wedding.
Spare parts shop owner Allan Tee Kok Weng, 36, and his bride Shiau Ting, in her 30's, had just returned home from their wedding dinner in Taman Daya here on Sunday to change their clothes before going out with friends again.
The couple met 10 friends, including some of Tee's relatives and employees, at a club in Taman Mount Austin for drinks and were about to leave at around 2am yesterday when tragedy struck.
Tragic end: Shiau Ting covering her face with a bag while crying at the mortuary in Johor Baru. An employee of the bistro, who declined to be named, said the incident happened very quickly.
“They were heading out of the club when a vehicle with eight people wearing ski masks pulled up,” said a club employee, who declined to be named.
He said the men got off the vehicle and slashed Tee with parang.
“It all happened so fast,” he added.
A wedding shot of the couple. He said the relatives and friends rushed Tee to Hospital Sultan Ismail where he was pronounced dead.
He sustained wounds to his head, neck and body and had apparently died at the scene.
At the mortuary, Shiau Ting was seen being comforted by a group of family members and some of Tee's employees.
None wanted to speak to reporters and rushed off with tears in their eyes.
Shiau Ting was seen getting into a car, which still had a pink ribbon tied to the handle.
