Malaysian festivals stamp their mark
KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia is launching its newest range of stamps titled “Malaysian Festivals Series 2” to commemorate the various festivities celebrated by Malaysians.
A total of 1,750,000 stamps have been printed for this series, which will go on sale from tomorrow.
There are five different designs in the series worth 60 sen each featuring Hari Raya Haji, Mid-Autumn Festival, Thaipusam, Kaul Festival and Regatta Lepa.
New collection: Pos Malaysia employee Nurul Razati Jamil, 23, showing the ‘Malaysian Festivals Series 2’ stamps at the media preview in Kuala Lumpur. The first three are celebrated nationwide while the Kaul Festival and Regatta Lepa are celebrated only in Sarawak and Sabah, respectively.
The stamps are 40mm x 30mm in size and printed by lithography with special glitter foil.
“This is the first time in Malaysia that we've used glitter foil,” said Pos Malaysia head of stamp and philately Yasmin Ramli.
She said this set was a follow-up to the last Malaysian Festivals series released on Aug 15, 2006, which featured Deepavali, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Tadau Kaamatan and Gawai Festival.
Full sheets containing 20 stamps can be purchased for RM12 each at all Pos Malaysia outlets while stocks last.
First-day covers with stamps will be sold only on the day of the release at all outlets for RM3.50 each, while those without stamps will be sold for 50 sen each.
Folders are sold for RM5.50 each, and a full set consisting of a folder, brochure, first-day cover and all five stamp sheets will be sold for RM69 at www.postme.com.my and selected outlets only.
