Gerakan division chief, wife hurt in gas tank explosion

PETALING JAYA: A Gerakan division chief and his wife have been warded in Hospital Kuala Lumpur following a gas tank explosion at their home in Subang Jaya early Wednesday.
Subang division chief Francis Chong and his wife were in the kitchen when a gas tank exploded at about 12.30am.
Selangor Gerakan chief A. Kohilan Pillai said Chong suffered 20% burns on his body while his wife was more seriously injured.
"They are currently under observation in the burn unit of Hospital Kuala Lumpur," he said.
Chong is the Barisan Nasional coordinator for the Bukit Lanjan state seat and seen as a winnable candidate by the party in the coming general election.
