CCTVs for Kedah and Perak

BY A. RUBAN

SHAH ALAM: The Government will be concentrating on placing closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) cameras in Kedah and Perak, said Deputy Home Minister Datuk Abu Seman Yusop on Saturday.

Currently, the cameras are placed in several districts in Selangor, Penang, Kuala Lumpur and Johor.

Abu Seman said two states were classified as hotspots.

In Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's Budget 2013 speech yesterday, he announced 25 local councils would receive additional CCTVs.

The Umno lawmaker also discussed the 1,000 additional motorcycles for police patrolling announced in Budget 2013, emphasising that they would be distributed evenly nationwide.

"Motorbikes are easy for the police to maneuver on the streets," he told reporters after a walkabout at Bukit Jelutong.
