MALAYSIAN singer Lim Siow Fong, better known as Xiao Fong Fong, was criticised for wearing cheap clothes while performing in ko tai (stage shows) in Singapore recently, China Press reported.

Some audience members are said to have complained about her cheap clothes.

They remarked that her clothes looked as if they were purchased at a night market in Thailand.

Lim, who is famous for her Hokkien songs, began singing at the tender age of five.

She had charged S$1,200 (RM2,900) for the show, the daily reported.

“I heard that she is charging over S$1,000 for the show so I rushed over to watch.

“I never thought that she would wear something like that,” said an audience member, known only as Wang.

Another audience member, known only as Zhang, 50, said Lim did not look like a famous singer in such outfits.

However, Lim said she was more focused on her performance rather than her clothes.

“If there is a request by the organiser, then will I put on special clothes,” she said.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that Hong Kong actor Ekin Cheng would marry 37-year-old actress Yoyo Mung next year.

Mung said they had not begun planning the event yet, but it would be small and simple.

She said they might not even have a formal ceremony, but just a wedding registration at their home.
