Saravanan: City Hall to monitor nightclubs after bouncers' death

KUALA LUMPUR: City Hall will monitor nightclubs every Friday and Saturday following the shooting of two bouncers recently.

"Starting this week, on every Friday and Saturday, DBKL will conduct monitoring activities on nightclubs, especially the ones in Jalan Doraisamy and Bukit Bintang, to prevent fights and other incidents," Deputy Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk M.Saravanan told a press conference.

He said the action was taken following the death of two nightclub bouncers who were shot dead by a man after he and his friends were denied entrance to the nightclub in Jalan Doraisamy on Aug 26.

Saravanan said DBKL will also take immediate action to close unlicensed nightclubs in the city.

He said this was because approximately 10 per cent of the nightclubs were found to be operating without a licence, including two in Jalan Doraisamy and 14 in Bukit Bintang.

He said action would be taken against other operators who flout the 3am closing time.
