Needs of vernacular schools not sidelined in education blueprint, says Wee

PETALING JAYA: Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong has dismissed claims that vernacular schools needs were sidelined in the formation of the national education blueprint.
"First of all, they have not seen the full copy of the report and they can only get it by Sept 11,” he said.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is due to launch the national education plan on Tuesday.
"If certain quarters keep on harping on certain issues without reading the whole text, I believe it is illogical and they are only making a wild guess," he told reporters at a press conference after launching the Engineering Week 2012 organised by the Institution of Engineers Malaysia on Sunday.
Dr Wee was responding to allegations that the Education Ministry had ignored the needs of vernacular schools in drawing up the blueprint particularly in the areas of infrastructure, basic amenities and cumbersome government bureaucratic procedures, curriculum.
