Home Ministry wants Budget 2013 to fund new ways of combating crime

By YEE XIANG YUN

KLUANG: The Home Ministry would like the Budget 2013 to give priority to fund new ways of combating crime and to the ministry's employees' welfare, particularly housing.

Its minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said Sunday that his ministry was working closely with the Finance Ministry to identify areas that need to be strengthened in his ministry.

"Now that we are in the second phase of the national key research area (NKRA) for crime, which emphasises safety in carparks, shopping malls and community policing, we want to come up with new approaches to combating crime," he said.

Hishammuddin, who is also Sembrong MP, was speaking at a press conference after attending Jalinan Kekasih Aidilfitri programme at Felda Kahang Timur here on Sunday.
